After some consideration I have decided to withdraw from this month’s half-ironman event. Reason? I don’t think my body is up to it, especially on the run. So that is it, I had intended to retire from triathlons following that event, but my body has said “no”. I will continue to enjoy my swimming, cycling and much shorter runs but just to keep reasonably fit.
Plenty of things coming up to keep me busy, Rotary stuff continues as I am Chairman of International Committee and also Chair of the Maidstone Leisure Trust. Keeps me busy!
We now have a date for Mum’s Care assessment. We will be meeting with social services and Barty for them to determine Mum’s future. Social Services take over responsibility on 22nd August and they will decide what will be best for Mum. If the finance cannot be found to keep Mum at Barty House no doubt they will find her somewhere else. Hopefully, they will let her stay at Barty but there will definitely be a hefty top up cost to be found by our family. If she is moved elsewhere there will probably still be a top up amount to find. This Government promised to sort out social care and they haven’t. It’s post code lottery!
Big match tonight England v Germany for a place in the quarter finals. We need the win, 1966 was a long time ago!
