Wow! I am falling behind with these blogs. I have to keep going though as I promised myself that I would not stop until Covid is no longer a problem. Unfortunately, though it still is. Cases of the new Delta variant are increasing quickly and this is due they think, to young people mixing and have not had a vaccine yet. Over 50% of the adult population have now been vaccinated so there is a big drive to get younger ones done. They are almost down to 18 year olds but it is the children that could be spreading the virus. Fortunately the number of deaths are low but hospital cases are slowly rising. We are back once again to helping Toby with his home learning as his whole year have been sent home due to one pupil recording a positive result.
Boris had said that providing there is no data to suggest a rise in cases all restrictions will be lifted on June 21st. On Monday he announced it now needs until July 21st before data can be analysed and a decision made whether to de-restrict or continue with restrictions even longer. The hospitality sector are furious as many say they have planned for safe premises. The early part of this week was exceptionally warm and people have been out in their thousands. A lot of criticism as to why the Govt didn’t put India on the Red List earlier, some say it was because he wanted a trade deal with them. Whatever the truth is, we still remain in Amber with certain restrictions. So on we go.
The decision has meant that we cannot now have our fund raising evening meal at the end of our Trailer Pull next week. Fortunately, it can be postponed to go ahead when we have a full lifting of restrictions. I drove the route with Sue on Tuesday so she is ready for next Thursday and today I went live interviewed on Radio Kent to promote the event. I will go on again next Wed morning the day before the big event.
I saw Mum on Monday, she is OK but keeps scratching her thin skin and making it bleed. We had another walk and sat in the Summer House where it was quiet and cooler.
