England started their campaign today with a 1-0 win over Croatia. Not convincing, Croatia were unlucky not to equalise in the first half, however, England had the better run of play and held their nerve. A good result. Carried on watching TV as the mens French tennis final was on. Novak Djokovic was on form and won the hard fought match against a Greek bloke who is young and will do well in time.
It has been a very warm day today. This morning Sue and I walked to visit Judy & Peter, a 5. 5 mile round trip. A nice walk, it’s part of my “take it easy training” leading up to the big walk on the 24th. Despite plenty of social media coverage still very little donations take up so far, but still pleased with PR coverage and looking forward to my couple of minutes this Thursday at 2.45pm on the Pat Marsh show.
Bit of a shocker today, in our retired firefighter magazine I saw my friend and colleague from my days at the Fire Service College in early 80s has died at the age of 76. His wife and Sue were friends when we lived there and they both started and ran a child nursery for a couple years. We never kept in touch but so sad he died so young. He was a great sportsman and was one of the fellow instructors who got me interested in marathon running. RIP Paul. Yesterday was the first anniversary of when friend Ray died of Covid. Can that really be a year!
