Since the boys went home, as if I wasn’t exhausted enough, on Monday I did a 9 mile run, on Tuesday I did a lake swim of 2km and today I cycled nearly 59 miles. Tomorrow is a rest day except that Norman and I are going to St Paul’s Primary School in Swanley and then West Kingsdown Primary, to do our Shelterbox presentation and demo in readiness for 21-4-21. The weather has been glorious this week and the lake swim was in water at 22 degrees. To warm for a wet suit but I had to wear mine to make sure mine is Ok as it was first open water swim since Leeds Castle triathlon in July 2019. All went well, I was the only person in the lake for about half an hour. I just swam with the ducks, it was glorious.
On Tuesday morning I took three of our trailer team to check out our route for the 24th. Decisions made, it looks like the A20 for most of the way. Next week I am driving the route again with Sue as she will be driving my car as “Broom Wagon” on the day. All preparations now well underway, all we need is more people to visit our website https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/21-for-21 to see what we are doing and making a donation if they wish.
Portugal has been put on the amber list for some unknown reason so all those holiday makers who went when it was Green had to try and get flights back before the deadline. It was a mass evacuation of Portugal and some didn’t try to get back and accepted that they now have 10 days quarantine when they are home. All quite bizarre. In the meantime Covid cases are rising again here but deaths and hospital cases remain low. Those in hospital seem to be youngsters who haven’t had vaccinations. The vaccine programme roles on and now it is down to 25 year olds. It’s looking like the June 21st remove all restrictions day, may now be delayed for a couple of weeks. We will find out on Monday. I visited Mum on Tuesday, She was very upset as she had a really bad headache. I took her for a walk in the garden which perked her up a bit.
