Sorry for the delay in blogs, I have been rather busy over the past few days. We had Stuart and family with us the weekend. Had a great time with them all. Improved weather so we kept away from trips to the beach and stayed local. Stuart Danny and I did our 5k run along the valley. They were really kind and waited for me! The boys stayed in the tent all night in the garden although Toby came in in early hours as it had got bit cold. On BH Monday it was really warm so we went into the old Boughton quarry where they played on the rope swing and climbed in the caves. Then off to the old Gurney Mill weir to cool off. Great fun in the water. Unfortunately, Oliver left his expensive shoes by the water and didn’t realise till he was home the next day. Sue and I found them. They had been thrown in the stream then a kind person placed them visibly near the mill house. As they also forgot to take home two coats, Natalie drove back from Reading yesterday to collect them!
Tuesday, Sue and I went to see Mum. She was fine and as it was nice weather we walked to the summer house. It was lovely to walk in the garden with her. Les is visiting her tomorrow. In the evening I presented Mote Runners with their winners cheque of £300 for the GreatHomeRun. Then I did a satisfactory time in the 5k run.
Today it was Time Trial day and it has been the hottest of the year nearly 28 degrees this morning. I rode all the way to Tenterden then took part in the 10 mile race. Amazingly Les turned up to take part. Still battered and and bruised from his recent fall he rode incredibly well and did his fastest time of 34 mins, for many a year. We can only conclude that the major improvement is down to his new pacemaker he had fitted 3 weeks ago! A great advert for pacemakers. I did a reasonably good ride and finished 5th out of 10, so pleased with that.
Tomorrow, Michael and Philippa drop the boys off for three nights whilst they re-visit their honeymoon hotel! I am sure we will cope!
