After our break it’s back to the real world. Covid cases generally are low but there is a lot of concern over the spread of the Indian Variant. Many cases mainly in northern towns but some outbreaks further south. Some data is starting to indicate that the vaccines will protect from this mutation. However, it is not known how far and fast it can spread. Indicators suggest that is spreading rapidly. As a result the Govt has advised that people in those infected areas should not travel. This apparently is not a lockdown, so there is a lot of confusion amongst those populations. Spain is allowing tourists in now but currently the UK is not permitting travel there apart from certain exemptions- so more confusion! We are reasonably hopeful that by September we can travel there free from quarantines and tests.

Viv and Steve are here in Kent for a few days and Viv visited Mum on Monday and had a great time. Mum was really pleased to see her and it all went very well. Viv and Steve are having dinner with us tomorrow evening which will be nice now that we can mix indoors again.

I took brother-in-law Peter to hospital today for an operation. According to Judy it has gone well but it will probably be Thursday before he can come home.

I went for a 5 mile run yesterday and tonight I ran 2 miles to the running club and then ran a steady 5k with a young lady who plays rugby for Essex, her boyfriend plays for Maidstone RFC. We had a lovely chat all the way round Mote Park. It made a nice change to run with someone. I then ran another 2 miles home.

Sue has been busy preparing for the visit at the weekend of Stuart and family. At last, the forecast indicates a bit of sunshine and a bit warmer by the weekend. It is a Bank Holiday so no doubt the roads will be busy. Hopefully it will be BBQ time again.
