I took the opportunity for a different run route yesterday. Out to Langley then along the cross country path by the River Loose and lake. Halfway along I took a wrong turning finishing up in field of cows and marshy cow pats. I had to turn back and eventually found the proper path that took me through a farmyard and onto the busy Heath Rd. I phoned Sue to say I was OK but somewhat delayed! After 2 hours of slow running I was home and tired. I had run just over 9 miles. Made a change from my usual routes.
Today was a 2nd jab Pfizer day at Blackthorn. Back to organising the 15 min wait and a large number of patients. Today and tomorrow the medical team will do 1200 vaccines. That means over 20,000 since the start in December. I say it again, brilliant for such a small surgery. I had a call from one of our volunteers this afternoon, she had a severe migraine at the last minute before her shift, so off I went and did another 2 hour stint. Back as usual for first shift tomorrow.
The Indian variant virus is now spending and increasing fast. Really weird now as the govt are still prepared to reduce more restrictions from Monday. However, it’s looking likely that Boris will delay the full reduction in June and that might cause us problems with our 21 4 21 charity event. Still, what must be, must be. There is a lot of criticism of the PM for not stopping flights between India and Uk earlier. The politics of future trade deals seem to have played a part.
On a lighter note I watched the Cup Final today. A great game with Leicester winning for the first time ever. It was the biggest mass gathering experiment permitted so far with 20,000 fans at Wembley. A lot of post match hugging going on in all the excitement, it will be interesting to see the Covid stats in due course.
