A solemn, relatively low key service, the Order of Service all pre-arranged by the DofE himself. Only 30 attended due to Covid rules, but the entire programme was brilliantly organised and carried out as would have been his wish. RIP Prince Philip. .
I have just heard of another sad death today. One of our Rotary club’s founder members, Ian Camp has passed away. He had dementia and Parkinsons and was in a hospice. He was a lovely man who sadly lost his first wife when she was flying in a light aircraft that crashed. Ian moved to the South Coast, remarried and joined a local Rotary club. He was only 80 when he died. RIP Ian.
Well , after all this sadness I feel less inclined to report on my current minor problem. My toothache previously reported has worsened and today I had an emergency visit to the dentist as a lump has formed on my jaw bone. The outcome is a very bad infection beneath a tooth in which I had root canal treatment a few years ago. I have been given antibiotics and need to go back to see my regular dentist next week for a review. Basically I have a choice. Full removal of the tooth and infected area, which can be done by my dentist or to have a re-root canal which will have to be done privately by a specialist dental surgeon. The latter sounds complicated and unpleasant but whilst an extraction is not something I would want, I have decided to go for the extraction. However, I will need to talk to the dentist next week to way up the choices, so in the meantime I keep taking antibiotics and pain killers.
Already I have stopped my running as I have felt very drowsy and no doubt that will continue. However, my duathlon is next Sunday and I hope to do that it, just hope there are no drugs tests!
