Yesterday saw the start of our GreatHomeRun. 22 activities are currently registered and will take place from now till end of April. So far we have raised £1330 for 5 local charities and hopefully more donations will follow. My Everest run started a bit before April 1st so yesterday I joined friend Richard on a 20 miler to set him off on his target of 500miles in the month. We had a nice social ride but I felt my age when he danced on his pedals up Wierton Hill and then told me later he wasn’t in his lowest gear! He is clearly an excellent cyclist and I am sure he will achieve his target. On Tuesday evening I joined our first Mote Runners club run since the lockdown. It was well attended and in groups of the permitted 6 we all did a 5k run around Mote Park. I was unsure how I would get on with a short run and just a few hills. As it turned out my hill training paid off as I got round quite comfortably. Still a slow time of 33 mins since the old days but my pace was greater when running with others.

A great change in weather and worse is to come later in Easter break. I did some gardening yesterday but soon abandoned as the wind was icy cold. At least the poor weather might reduce the numbers crowding into parks and leaving their litter everywhere as they did earlier in the week. Disgraceful, plus groups of more than the statutory 6 appearing everywhere. A new law has been passed for £100 on the spot fines to be given for breaches of the Covid rules. UK is holding on as cases still very low and importantly deaths and hospital admissions are decreasing. However, not the case in Europe where there is a third lockdown now. Our holiday is looking extremely unlikely at the moment.

We have a single vaccine session tonight from 5.00pm till 8.00pm so Sue and Nick will join me for one long session. Tomorrow there is another short session in the morning when Andy will lead that and we have the day off. I have written the rota for two full days next Friday and Saturday, so we are well prepared.

Day 1
Off we go..mind the dustbin!
