Sue and I up early today for our shift this morning at Blackthorn. Another good day about 800 vaccines done which is brilliant for our small surgery. We open up to patients at 8 am but like before people are queuing from 7.15 am even though their appointments are not till after 8. So we had a long but very manageable queue today, which with 3 vaccinators quickly moved it on. A steady flow through the shift and the rest of the day. Andy and I swapped jobs just so we have a good working knowledge of all our tasks. It all went very well. Once again it was very cold but when I re-visited this evening it had turned warmer at about 1 degree. Hopefully the thaw will start tomorrow, then no doubt it will be floods! Pessimist!
We have had a collection box at the car park entrance for GAVI the alliance that ensures that developing countries get a fair share of vaccine worldwide. Today was the largest amount over £80 in one day. People are so grateful to have their jab and then kind enough to donate.
Mum appears to be giving the staff at Barty the run around again. Reports of her going walkabout at night and she keeps hiding her food in draws and under the bed. But that is nothing new, when I looked after her at the flat she used to throw food out the window. For the birds she said! Anyway she seems to be getting her monies worth in the Home. Incidentally, we haven’t heard yet from the NHS PCG regarding funding, but as I have mentioned before I was told unofficially Mum wouldn’t qualify, she is too lively! Tomorrow Sue and I are doing a double shift at Blackthorn 9 till 1pm. It is a special session for people with learning disabilities. So it will be a slow and steady journey in and out of the medical centre.
