What’s this got to do with Covid? Nothing, but there is a connection. Each year our Rotary Club plants purple crocuses in public places around the town. Purple signifies the work we do helping Polio Eradication in the world. The colour purple is the mark that is put on a child’s finger after giving them drops of vaccine. It is the way to show if the child has been vaccinated. We actually did this for the short time we were helping in India fourteen years ago. Wow ! was it that long ago?! It just got me thinking won’t it be great when there is a vaccine for coronavirus that can be administered by drops in the mouth. No need to be trained, anyone can do it, even I have done it for polio!, very quick, no injection. Maybe one day this will be possible, but not yet.

Oh yes, crocus bulbs. So this morning friend Mary had a bag left over from last autumns planting, so I bought them and planted them all in my three patches of wild flower areas. Not the best day for a bit of gardening but was different for this time of year. Today was also the RSPB garden birdwatch survey. I didn’t sign on but I can report that I saw the following in the space of an hour in our garden. 5 Goldfinches, 8 starlings, 2 sparrows, 1 robin, two pigeons, 2 doves but no partridge in a pear tree, cos’ I haven’t got a pear tree.

Mum seemed to be eating and drinking OK today according to the notes. However, the notes did say that Mum had asked for help to get ready for bed tonight. I haven;t heard that before. I think she is getting weaker, never know I might get to see her in a few weeks once Covid is clear of the home.

News today said 100yr old Sir Captain Tom is in hospital with Covid, He is not on a ventilator but it doesn’t sound good.
