Another record number of daily deaths. They continue to rise and all hospitals are at saturation point and medics are really suffering but plodding on, bless them all. It is expected that deaths will continue to rise for a while yet as it takes a few weeks for many severe Covid cases to finish their life. People in the twenties are now dying with no underlying causes.
The good news is that the rate of new cases is starting to fall across the UK. In our area in particular, all areas are showing a decline. However, no need for complacency we are still above the national average.
And for some good personal news. Mum has beaten Covid, she is now out of isolation and they are allowing her to socialise once again with some residents. Her appetite seems to be improving and she is becoming more content once again. Viv Facetimed her today and that went reasonably well she tells me.
On the practical front I have sorted out some stuff from my loft. I have ditched all my folders and box files from my Degree and Diploma work. This freed up two big boxes which I have filled with spare Shelterbox equipment. My friend Richard is kindly storing them, in his large garage.
I have also extracted from the loft all the equipment I kept from my sailing days. I don’t need them anymore so I am arranging to pass them on to some sailing friends.
Yesterday I did a steady 3.5 mile run with no sign of the injury so the week’s rest paid off. Bad weather at the moment a big Storm hitting the North with loads of floods and snow. We have it wet and windy but I am waiting for a dry hour or so for my next run.
With Sue’s help I have next weekend’s vaccine rota ready. Blackthorn are stepping up the pace now we have the Oxford vaccine. Target 2000 doses in 3 days next weekend so that will be challenging. The marshalling jobs have had to be re-arranged to meet the doubling of output. Sue got her vaccine on Saturday and has had no adverse effects thank goodness.
