We had a light covering of snow at 8.00am this morning, an hour later it had turned to torrential rain. Sue and I started our evening shift last night at the surgery. It was a 3 hr shift but interesting. The medics were re-arranging the surgery layout to increase the vaccine output. This involved leading patients along the path around the garden path at the rear of the building. Then they entered the waiting room were two vaccinators were working. So the output doubled from what we had before. They then added another registration point and from then on and into this morning were were able to speed up the process. Next weekend I am sure we will meet the target of 2,000 inoculations over 3 days. Good news, Sue had her first vaccine this morning. So far so good, no immediate advert reaction.

Yesterday I spoke with a nurse at Barty. Mum is allowed to take a walk in the corridor but only when escorted by a nurse or carer. She still wanders off on her own a lot before they retrieve her, so the old fighting spirit is still there. Unfortunately, she is still not eating as well as she did but other than that it looks like Covid is behind her but they won’t re-test for several weeks. Because some residents and staff still have Covid until they are all tested negative and vaccinated there will be no return to some sort of normality.

This afternoon I worked on next weekends rota. I have to juggle some volunteers to make sure that they all get to work the new system and have experienced Rotarians as Team Leaders for guidance. No vaccines tomorrow and it looks like we have a sunny and slightly warmer day, so Sue and I will be out for a nice bike ride.
