Today’s weather should have kept a few more people at home. That includes me. Sue did her couple of hours school work this morning with Toby, which was OK for a while, but he can’t understand why he needs his times table! However, he has grasped some of the work he did yesterday on Fair-trade and without prompting today produced drawings and a chart to demonstrate the meaning of the subject. Later in the day James had a gap between subjects and then had to fit in his piano and bassoon practice. I was pleased when he asked me to listen to him. He is doing really difficult grade 6 stuff now and he is working on his mistakes, but to me I am just so impressed. His Dad intervened at one stage and there was a bit of an upset then all was sorted and everything was fine. Sometime later he called again this time for Sue to help him with his Spanish. That was done and then he started teaching Sue Mandarin! A very talented young man.
I now have the rota arrangements for the weekend so I will be sorting that tomorrow and also the following weekend when Dr Hanrath wants 2,000 inoculations done. Sue and are there tomorrow from 5pm till 8pm when they start and we will have to sort out the new layout and jobs for the volunteers as there is no need for the 15 mins post -vaccine observation time when using the Oxford vaccine. Also they may well be using two vaccinators so it will be a much quicker process.
Just to add to our work load Andy has had an idea for a home based activity project to raise funds for our Rotary charities. We spent time today discussing the detail and I will help him put a paper together as a proposal for our Rotary club. I also continued clearing out some boxes in my loft. All my old diploma and MedSc working notes in box files have gone in the bin. Nobody will be interested in them when I am gone!
