Temperatures hanging around freezing for last few days generally overcast and today was very misty till middle of afternoon when it was bright sunshine. Sue and did our shift at Blackthorn and two hours standing in the cold was enough. I am glad I did the rota on 2 hour shifts and no longer. However, the vaccinations have gone well today. At Blackthorn they were giving some people their first Pfizer jab and some their second. Just another day tomorrow then it looks, at the moment, that we may do just a day and half next weekend and it is likely to be the new Oxford vaccine. Last night I did get my second Pfizer injection.
This afternoon Sue and I wrapped up warm and cycled to Ralph’s Farm Shop and I came home with two full pannier bags of fresh vegetables. Looking forward to this evenings meal it smells delicious. Unfortunately, Mum has been refusing food again today, she is going to become very weak soon, I fear.
A sign of the times, lowly Chorley beat Championship side Derby 2 nil in the third round of the FA Cup today. Ordinarily, this would be a huge underdog success with a lot of coverage. Unfortunately, Derby had all it’s first team isolated as there was positive a positive tested teammate (s). Derby ‘s oldest player was 19!
Oh and I nearly forgot to mention as I was trying to have a day off from the stats, Covid cases continue to rise and the advice to all of us now is we all have to act as if we have Covid. With 1 in 50 people with the illness, there are going to be very many more soon who don’t need to pretend! Scientists are saying that the lockdown is not severe enough to stop the spread. I am not a scientist but when I see friends of mine standing close together chatting in the street with none wearing masks or keeping the distance, I feel ashamed. Let’s hope that the peak is not far away and we see a drop in deaths and cases very soon.
