Nearly 10 months on and we have the highest number of deaths since the pandemic started and we now have over 30,000 in hospital with the virus leaving the NHS front line workers in a desperate state. Parts of Kent have had well over 1000 new cases today and Maidstone is not far behind on 850. Parliament have voted overwhelming tonight to support the lockdown but there is a lot of concern that the vaccines aren’t being rolled out fast enough.
Meanwhile back in Barty House Mum had a fall this evening but other than the shock, physically she doesn’t appear to have damaged herself. She received immediate checks and treatment. She has eaten a bit better today but I spoke to the nurse who said she is not eating like she has done. Not sure if our video phone call will go ahead, I will find out first thing tomorrow.
Some better news tonight, Stuart rang to say that his friend Steve is now out of the ICU and is in a general ward. He is young and fit and although it is going to be a long haul, it looks like he will pull through, thank goodness.
Sue and I had a nice 4 mile walk today which included a bit of shopping and a visit to her Mum’s memorial stone in the cemetery. Home to a few queries about the weekends vaccine rota but all sorted out now.
As for vaccine days this weekend, we are going to add a couple more gazebos in readiness against any bad weather that might be on the way. The forecast for the weekend is very cold but minimal chance of rain, sleet or snow. But of course, this time of the year that can change.
