So here we are again 10 months later in a full lockdown. After a lot of uncertainty we have now a decision to close schools until at least half term. We are not allowed to mix with other families, must work from home and just a few exceptions, only essential work is allowed away from home. We should be OK to continue our work with the vaccines. There are now more cases than the worst times last year and the new varient virus is spreading out of control across the country. We are allowed out for exercise just once a day but with one other person only. So when the weather improves I can ride with my pal MikeD or Sue.

Teaching will be online only. Already Sue has been speaking to Natalie and we now have Toby’s work on our computer. Sue is going to spend some regular time with him going through it. This will help free up Stu and Nat as both have to work at home. Ollie has online college work which he just gets on with. He is keen especially as he was top of the class in the last exam. Danny is old enough to work on his own with just some support. James’s school is geared up to deliver teacher to pupil learning online as it is a private school and Alex will need some focus time as he is a fidget and needs to concentrate. Sue and I may well need to relieve Mike and Pip so they can work. It’s going to be hard work but not as hard as some poorer families who haven’t got sufficient IT facilities or parents in essential work and need childcare. I can understand why the Govt wanted to keep schools open as youngsters need to be there. However, the situation is so bad now, the health of the nation comes first.

The Govt have set a really ambitious target of vaccinations, the Oxford jabs are now underway but I have serious doubts that all high priority people, which includes the over 70s! will be inoculated by Easter. I hope that it can be achieved however and I am glad that Sue and I are involved with helping the GPs to achieve this goal.

Viv’s Steve is home after his operation. Not a pleasant experience for him but now he has that particular problem removed he can recover comfortably at home. Viv is having to help him with injections for a while, so all credit to her as well.

SteveB who was severely injured in a hit and run has had operations on his pelvis and femur but at the moment we don’t have information about his general condition, other than he is in a poorly state.
