Apparently it is New Year’s Eve as I write this, have just returned from checking the late shift at Blackthorn. Another productive day of vaccinations, a shorter day tomorrow then it starts all over again next weekend. I spoke to the doctor in charge tonight and it looks like the new Astra Zeneca vaccine will be in use then as well as the current Pfizer one. No second jabs will be carried out now until about 12 weeks as they think there will be plenty of immunity in the first jab for a while. So its all about getting as many people inoculated as quickly as possible. The deaths were in the 900s again today and cases still increasing.

Mum still showing no material symptoms of the Covid she has. However, the case notes say she has been dizzy and she ate none of her evening meal tonight, including her pudding, which is unusual.! Ironically, all the negative tested residents will get their jabs tomorrow. Mum will have to wait 28 days following a negative test whenever that may be.

9.00pm and I can hear a few backyard fireworks being let off, but there is to be now major displays this year or gatherings for parties. The strangest NYE ever! So time for a drop of brandy to see the new year in then off to bed. What an awful year it has been, let’s hope these vaccinations will stem the tide and maybe by the Spring we just might see some improvement.

Happy New Year
