As planned Sue and I filled the car with pressies and set off to Stuart’s house in Woodley near Reading. A lot of traffic but no hold ups. As planned, Stuart had opened the garage and I unloaded all the pressies. Strange thing is whilst Natalie is isolating the family don’t have to. So we had a masked up distance chat with Stuart across the lawn. We were just in time to say hello to Ollie and see his new motorbike before off he went out on his mini bike. Once the MOT is done for the new bike he will have formal lessons starting this weekend. However, Berkshire moves into Tier 3 on Saturday so that may put it on hold. Whilst we were there poor Natalie could only wave from the lounge window, as a teacher she is feeling very low at having to leave all her class just before the holidays. Anyway, job done we had a good journey home, a quick last minute shop in our new out of town M&S and back home for a quiet evening.

Back to the main issues of the day, Covid cases in Kent and nearby have become dangerously high. Maidstone is in the top 10 worst in the country with over 700 cases per 100K. Matt Hancock said in Parliament that everyone in Kent should wear a mask even outdoors and we should all act as if we all have Covid. However, we can still all have a lovely Christmas with three families at a time indoors for 5 days. What a recipe for a greater disaster!! The chancellor has extended the furlough scheme till the end of April. That is a clue for the minimum time that this is likely to go on.

Oh yes and Boris has intervened once again to sort out the Brexit issues, but has failed mainly on the fact that we don’t want Johnny foreigner taking our fish! Pathetic argument! Half the fishermen aren’t bothered about who comes and catches our tiddlers, they are more interested in being able to sell to the EU tariff free and that ends on Dec 31st with or without a deal unless it a very generous deal and that isn’t likely.

Tomorrow the vaccines should arrive and Sue I will be going on site probably to assist late afternoon if the vaccines are ready. It will be like a practice run for the weekend. Not sure if I’ll have time for a blog over the next few days but I will try my best if I can.
