Yesterday our son Mike played his first ever piano solo in front of his socially distanced orchestra friends. He was asked to play Mozart’s Piano Concerto no 20 in D Minor. We have seen the video and it is brilliant, we are so proud of him. His wife Philippa was playing cello in the orchestra. Philippa has also recorded “In the Bleak Mid Winter” with 4 other violas from their South East London Orchestra. Once again a brilliant piece of music. James and Alex have just got distinctions in their music exams. We certainly have some talent in that family. No idea where the talent comes from, it’s certainly not me!

Meanwhile we took James to Cobham where he played in his first training session with the under 13s Surrey squad. He was pleased with his performance although the journey took some considerable time. Never mind a rewarding day all round.

Over the past couple of days I have been hard at it compiling/changing/re-compiling the volunteers for the stewarding for vaccinations starting on Friday. All shifts finalised this morning until I got a call to say that the vaccines won’t arrive till middle of Friday at the earliest so the weekend probably will be extended through Monday. Back to the drawing board!

Following on I went to the surgery for a meeting today where we learned that the venue for vaccinations have changed to a nearby surgery and probably we won’t being doing the Friday, so I have juggled the rota once again. Fortunately, we have some brilliant volunteers who have offered to swap around. It looks now to be Friday to Monday, but watch this space!
