My cycling friend’s wife Greta had a fall in the street yesterday. She badly injured her face. Last night she and Mike spent five hours in A&E and today they have gone to East Grinstead Hospital as she needs to have repairs done to her jaw and teeth. I will find out tomorrow how they got on.
Tony, one of our elderly Rotarians had a black out whilst at a friends a couple of nights ago. Ambulance took him to Maidstone A&E and after a thorough examination they could not find the cause and he was sent home. He lives alone quite near us and his wife is in permanent care with full dementia. So I tried ringing him several times this morning but no reply. I went to his house as part of my run. His car was there and bedroom curtains closed. I tried the door bell and both phones but no response. I was speaking to a neighbour then I saw the bedroom curtains had opened. Eventually Tony appeared at the door and looked quite unwell which he agreed with me. I offered to get him a drink or breakfast but he is very independent and declined. I swapped phone numbers with his neighbour and later in the morning she called to say that he is still unwell but coping and he is in touch with his friend. The neighbour will keep an eye on him and update me in the week. I will phone him in the morning. I spent three quarters of an hour outside his house in my running clothes and quite undressed for the weather. I continued on a short run to warm up which didn’t happen. I got home frozen and and it took a long hot shower to stop me shivering!
This afternoon and evening I have been starting to prepare a volunteers list to help with marshalling at the GP practice Covid vaccinations which hopefully will start end of next week. A busy time. I will call it a day now….zzzzz Whoops nearly forgot. Happy Anniversary Mike & Pip xx
