Medway has just overtaken Swale and Thanet to become the worst infected area in the Country. Medway has 375 cases/100k, Maidstone is in the top ten with 375. The average for England is 129. Our area is still on the rise whereas most of the rest of the country are experiencing a gradual decline.
Winter is upon us now, there was snow on the North Downs and I understand 2.5cm on the Greensand ridge at Sutton Valence. Tonight is clear and very cold. Tomorrow I am cycling with the group again but if it is icy I might not go.
After a morning on Zoom meetings to do with the Leisure Trust I went for another swim this afternoon. I was 10 mins late getting in as the duty manager showed me the broken windows caused by catapults and airgun pellets. All the windows in the Paul Alcock Suite were broken. Paul was my predecessor as Chairman of the Trust. He died of cancer 3 years ago. It was very sad, he was a lovely man and had been an ex-premier league soccer referee. Last year, in his honour the trustees decorated the room and we put up photos of Paul as a ref along with pictures of some of the groups and individuals that the Trust have supported over the years. I bet the vandals had no idea they were wrecking the windows of a very special place. I did however have just enough time in my allotted hour to swim my 2000 metres.
It would have been my lovely Grandad’s birthday today. He would have been 120. Unfortunately, he died when he was 74, that’s worrying.
