Although the country is reducing it’s Covid cases, our part of Kent is increasing rapidly. Maidstone now has the the fifth highest number of cases in England. Swale, Thanet, Medway and Gravesham have more! Medway hospital is barely coping with the influx of Covid cases. It’s a really frightening time in our part of the world.
A lot of optimism in UK over the new vaccine approval, but an expert US virologist has said that the UK have rushed the approval tests and it will mean that less people will choose to have the vaccine. Whereas in USA of course, they are taking their time! Nobody knows who is right, time will tell but 276,000 deaths so far in America they need to focus on their arrangements. Unfortunately, it doesn’t help when we have twats like Jacob Rees-Mogg tweeting -“We could only approve this vaccine so quickly because we have left the EU.”
Despite all this, it was great to visit Mum once again in Barty House after it was closed to all visitors during lockdown. They are making a great effort in Christmas preparations and Mum wanted a photo of us both near Father Christmas. No chance of hugs and we had to be 2 metres apart for the photo. Well done Barty for looking after Mum so well and keeping her and all the staff and residents free from Covid. Nice photo of Mum but I look like a butcher who has lost his turkey! After I got home I checked Mums care notes and it appears she went off to play boules I suppose that is so she has an appetite for her third meal of the day!
I returned to Leisure Centre today, great to have the pool opened again. Only 1500m today but I will try for 2000 tomorrow.
