I met my friend Mike at Mereworth and I was really cold. Temperature never above 4 degrees all day. A great day’s ride though, we went for coffee at Ightham Mote. I have only ever been there once when son Mike was about 14 years old playing in a junior orchestra. I have never cycled there though. What a lovely part of Kent, but very hilly. I finished the day on nearly 45 miles and climbed 2,650 feet. Interrupted by phone calls about Leisure Trust stuff which meant a lot of work this evening as well as joining a Rotary meeting about Passport Clubs.

Sue got a good news message from Barty today, I can visit Mum again now the lockdown has finished. However, we are now in Tier 3 so lots of things we can’t do and in our part of Kent Covid cases are still on the rise. However, all the shops are now open so a mad rush by thousands to buy up for Xmas. Does it all make sense?! There being only one slot left available at Barty this week I will be going at 2.20pm tomorrow after my swim, yes the pool is open again!

Sue and I listened and watched Alex playing his Grade 2 piano pieces on FaceTime, ready for his exam tomorrow. Mike recorded it and sent it to me so I can show Mum tomorrow. By the way as Alex’s Grade 1 exam was cancelled cos of Covid, his music teacher told him not to bother with Grade 1 and put him straight into Grade 2. He seemed quite relaxed and played really well, I am sure he will be OK tomorrow.

James did his Grade 5 Bassoon exam yesterday he was very disappointed and he said he made loads of mistakes. Mike said he is such a perfectionist it probably means he will only get a pass rather than a distinction! We will have to wait and see.
