Today’s number of new Covid cases dropped slightly on the National scale today but locally we have to wait as they are only recording it over the past week. Dominic Raab has warned everyone to stick to the Tier system when it starts on Wednesday or we could expect a third lockdown. However, there is not full agreement amongst MPs. Labour are still not decided yet whether or not to vote to support it on Tuesday and several Tory back benchers may rebel as well.
If the vote doesn’t go through we have no idea of what will happen next. Despite Kent expecting to go into Tier 3, I think we should just get on with it. My only concern is that I am not so sure the lockdowns and the restrictions are helping much any more as there are a lot of people who have had enough and are doing their own thing. Some hospitals are at breaking point again, but the NHS doesn’t seem to be getting the attention in the media as it did in the first lockdown at the start of the pandemic. It is still very uncertain times and with nearly 60,000 dead and with confusion and lack of clarity in the country, we are not in a good place at moment.
Meanwhile, back to normality, sadly Darth Vadar died today aged 85. David Prowse who was the man in the suit in Star Wars and also the Green Cross Code Man. He was a world weightlifting champion and in later years did much to help youngsters in many ways. His brother Bob has (had) owned The Bob Prowse Health Club in Maidstone and on the subject of fitness I did a 4 mile run today incorporating two climbs of Old Loose Hill. I am going reasonably well at the moment, although I must keep reminding myself to take rests between big runs. I have booked in swims on Thursday and Friday as the Leisure Centre opens up on Wednesday, yippee!
p.s Just out of interest for the first time I have checked the word count for my blog posts since I started this category when the first lockdown started in March. Words = 57,278 Deaths to date = 58, 245
So close, but I do hope that by the end of this pandemic there will be far more words in my blog posts than deaths recorded.
