I had a call from Chris the Barty maintenance man who told me one wheel on Mum’s trolley had gone kaput and needed repairing. He had some spare parts and was happy to mend it but as it is Mum’s property he has to get my permission. I was more than happy and he is now onto the job. I asked how it happened. Apparently it is wear and tear because Mum keeps crashing in to residents doors when she keeps visiting them to see if they are OK! Chris and I had a really good laugh over it. She joined in a game of targets today according to the daily care record. I don’t know how to play that, but I bet Mum hits a few targets if they look anything like residents’ doors!!
I had a 55 mile bike ride today. I was joined by friend Mike and we went to Headcorn Airfield for coffee. On the way Mike’s failing hearing missed my instruction to turn right. He went straight on to Headcorn, I never caught him put apparently he wanted to get to the memorial for the 2 mins silence. He missed it as did I. I also missed seeing him on the other side of the road waiting for me. When I got to the airfield I was alone and a bit concerned, however, he eventually arrived. It was so quiet there. No flying, no parachuting, no wing walking just us enjoying a lovely coffee and one of their tasty veggie “sausage”rolls. This was the first time since lockdown 2 started that I really knew we were in a lockdown. It was so quiet, just like lockdown 1. After a ride out to Pluckley we made our way back to Brenchley where I delivered him back safe and sound to his wife. I hope he has a lovely day tomorrow for hid birthday. Before leaving Brenchley I went to say farewell to Rotary friend Carolyn who moves to Wales next week. Her husband died recently so she is moving to be near her son and grandchildren. I wish her well.
