USA election yesterday. No result yet except Trump has told everyone he has won! Just a small matter of several thousand postal votes still not counted. The margin between Trump and Biden is wafer thin and if Trump loses he has said he will go to the Supreme Court (run by Republicans) because the Democrats have cheated! Putin and Kim Jong-un must be loving this!
Meanwhile back in reality land with Lockdown starting in a couple of hours time, the panic buyers have been out in force and shelves in some stores have been cleared. Shame really especially as supermarkets and DIY shops and other essential stores will remain open.
In the meantime I went for our last Wobblers ride for a month. No Mike today his wife is not well so I did a 20 mile loop to Headcorn where I met the other riders. Great to see Les out on this very cold morning accompanied by his daughter Julie. A change of lunch venue so we rode to a Brenchley pub before returning home after 50 miles in total.
On my way to Headcorn I stopped at the Canadian and USA memorial to aircrews lost at the Headcorn air base in the last war. Remembrance Day on Sunday so I spent some quiet time today in memory of them and all who were lost in that terrible war. It puts our modern problems into perspective.
I went through the Leisure Trust meeting notes tonight, Leisure Centre closed now for a month. However, our contractors are using the time for some repairs and major improvements including new showers, great work especially as they are having to make redundancies in a new management structure to try to re-coup some of the costs they have lost.
