I was hoping that after 7 months of Covid we would be returning to some sort of normality and I could scale down my blogs. No such luck, the virus is on the rampage again and the PM has put England on a stay at home lockdown from next Thursday until December 2nd. After that we go back onto the Tier system. It is hoped that the lockdown might bring down the R number and if below 1 we might start to see a decline in cases. The PM is confidently predicting an end to restrictions by next Spring, but then he has made predictions before!
Compared to those struggling to pay their bills, Sue and I are lucky. We have just had a lovely week when we have been visited by Stuart and Michael’s families. It was like having an early Christmas and as a result we have almost written off Christmas. One major disappointment is that we cannot now have Sue’s birthday in Bournemouth as planned. Great shame but in the grand scheme of things , it’s just a disappointment and not a life threatening disaster. However, I will try to re-book if the hotel opens again before Christmas.
I don’t know what restrictions Barty will place on visiting during the lockdown but I am pretty sure that there will be no visits. It will be a shame to not see Mum for a few weeks but I know that the home are going to give all the residents a good time such as fireworks on Nov 5th and a lot of fun at Christmas. I don’t think Mum will miss me too much!
The Govt have to get Parliament to agree the lockdown but I can’t see there being a total vote against it. I think however, that are many MPs especially the opposition, who think this should have happened a lot earlier. I have just heard from my contact at the Leisure Centre that business will cease after Thursday. Here we go again! At least the Govt are extending the furlough scheme for the duration. A lot more on this to come no doubt.
Happy Halloween !!!!
