International committee meeting on Zoom this morning. Did some work preparing for World Polio Day on 24 October. We are going to have a stand at Brookside Nursery all day. Hope to raise a few funds towards the campaign to eradicate Polio in the World. It was in 2012 that Sue, myself and Mary and Terry from our club went to help administering vaccines to children in India. Was that really 9 years ago?! Since then India and Africa have became free of Polio and that just leaves Afghanistan and Pakistan where it is still endemic. I wonder how long it will take to get rid of Covid 19. First we need to stop the rapid increase in cases and attempts are being made through localised restrictions. However, a lot of opposition to this method, some favour a total lockdown for a few weeks, but no guarantee if that will work either. Looking grim at the moment, as it stands currently, James and Alex won’t be able to visit at half term as they are now in the London Tier 2 Level and we are still in Tier 1. Whatever, our personal views we need to follow the rules. A gym owner in Tier 3 Liverpool has been fined £1000 by refusing to close the gym on the basis that people need to be fit and healthy. I don’t agree with him, you don’t need a gym to stay fit and healthy.

This afternoon I took the opportunity in reasonable weather to cut down and dig out a huge bush which was taking over the garden. If we go into full lockdown again I’ll have plenty of time to really blitz the garden.
