Well done Sue, a great 5Km run today for Cancer Research. Not only did she just break the 40 minute mark, between Sue and I, Maggie and Chris, we have raised over £600 inc Gift Aid. We are grateful to a lot of generous people. Following that I decided to make it a day of sport so I went for a pool swim this afternoon and managed 2.1 Km in in 50 mins which I was relatively pleased with as I haven’t done a lot of swimming since the pandemic got under way. Back home I did 20 mins on the turbo which i have retrieved from Norman and then I had a long soak in the bath with a glass of Prosseco to celebrate Sue’s achievement this morning.

Cold day today, so we gave in this evening and put the heating on for a while, forecast is changeable but it might be a bit warmer next week. I checked to confirm our booking in a couple of weeks time at the Hever Hotel. This was a Xmas present voucher from Stu and gang. Unfortunately it appears that the hotel has closed and nobody told us. I will contact the voucher people on Monday to see if we can go somewhere else. However, I checked a couple of Kent hotels on the list. One doesn’t take the vouchers anymore and the other didn’t answer the phone. Not looking good.

A quarter of the UK population is now under serious restrictions or full lockdown. At the moment we are not, but the virus is spreading. I have downloaded the Covid test and trace App but that is having teething problems so cannot be relied upon. Mum appears to be getting on Ok, so not overly worried about her at the moment she is in the safest place.

I had a call from Mike today, we are invited to visit them tomorrow, which will be great as it is likely that the Government will soon stop all mixing of households. Sue has been busy making a crumble and brownies which they love.
