This morning I went with my friend Norman to visit fellow Rotarian Carolyn whose husband has recently died and she needed help to clear her house prior moving to Wales to live near her son and family. Norman and I cleared piles of items from the room in the roof of her garage. It meant a lot of carrying items down the stairs so we were ideally suited, being young and fit. Afterwards we were treated to coffee and cakes in the garden.
Back home in the afternoon I made a snap decision to go for a slightly longer jog than of late, less speed and along woodland trails. I intended to do about 5 miles but finished up completing 7. Felt pretty good, I took my running belt with water bottles and I am feeling a lot more comfortable with them now. I ran a large section of the Greensand Way but when I got to Wierton the path was closed as it runs through a goat sanctuary and the owners were keeping public off the property due to risk of Covid, not sure who or what the risk was, the public or the goats! Unfortunately, I had to retrace my route and run on a path totally unfamiliar to me through dense woodland. However all was well when I reappeared at Boughton. All down hill from there. One good bit of news when I got home my longest stitch in my mouth came out. I still have a few left but hopefully they will be gone soon.
My busy day helped me to refrain from thinking of Mum for a while. According to her notes she has had a lot of pain and at one stage was shouting out a lot. Also still no word on the swab result so Mum remains in quarantine which means I cannot visit her yet. The UK positive cases continue to increase mainly by young people ignoring the rules and guidelines. The R figure is now slightly over 1 which means it increases the risk of spread substantially. There is word that there may well be new lockdowns soon. In the meantime it’s bike ride with the Wobblers again tomorrow so I am looking forward to that.
