This morning I was hoping to hear that Mum’s Covid test results would be back. Unfortunately, despite the swab being sent for testing last Thursday it still hasn’t arrived. This means that Mum remains in quarantine and I wasn’t allowed to see her today as previously planned. As nobody seems to know where the test results are they took another swab at Barty. Poor Mum, the swabs are are taken from well down the throat so it is quite an uncomfortable process. For someone of 95 it must be very uncomfortable. I expressed my concern to the Manager and she has sent me a document from Test and Trace stating that delays are expected now beyond the original 72 hours first stated. The manager will let me know as soon as either of the results are in. Assuming it is negative I might be able to visit later in the week. I dread to think what if it is positive! I just want her out of quarantine so she can meet again with other residents which she enjoys doing and is good for her mental we all being.

The Govt are very proud of the UK testing system and the PM even boasted that it is a world beater! They certainly are doing more and more tests and this no doubt has contributed to the continuing rise in positive cases. In the past 24 hours there have been just under 3000 cases, that is as high as the level in May. On the other hand using different statistics , there were just 3 deaths nationwide today and the death rate remains low.

As for the rest of the day I ran the planned 5Km course that we will running on 26th Sept. I managed in 35 minutes so I guess the girls will be around the 45 minute mark. No pressure, it’s not a race. The good news is our sponsorship received for Cancer Research is now £280, well past our original target of £100. So thanks to all those contributing. People can be very kind even in these difficult times.
