My turn to visit Mum in hospital today but in the morning I had a call from the hospital that she will be discharged tomorrow. They have got her to stand with helpers on either side, so not bad for 95 yr old. Having said that she is very confused and is looking very old and battered. I spoke to the Ward Manager, she has investigated throughout A&E, Ward 22 and Ward 31 and no sign of teeth or hearing aid. She also gave me a copy of the completed A&E Property acceptance form and there is no mention of the items being received. On paper therefore, Barty had written that they handed them over to the ambulance crew after the accident and the hospital have written that they never received them! I will contact South East Ambulance Service but the chances that they are in an ambulance are remote particularly as ambulances are cleaned and sterilised, I am sure they would have been noticed. One clue however, I received a call from Barty to say that her glasses were found in her room. So that was a mistake on their care notes and means that the teeth and hearing aid may still be somewhere at Barty.

That aside Mum has done well in hospital and now goes into 14 days quarantine at Barty. She will receive physio help and by the time I am allowed to visit it in just over two weeks time she may be back using her walker.

No sign of any relaxation in visiting rules particular as the R figure for the Virus has gone back over 1 for England which means it could be spreading again. Estimates are that this pandemic with restrictions could go on for 18 months until a vaccine is produced and widely given throughout the population.

Tomorrow I am having a day off. A long bike road to the coast with my B Group which has now reformed, we are making the most of it in case there is another lockdown.
