Weather forecast was good for today so we decided to avoid the busy roads and beaches and potter doing a few jobs in the garden and a bit of quiet time. Well, to some degree that is what happened. It has been a nice day so as our post office is closed for refurbishment, we think turning into an Indian off licence, I popped to the nearest shops to get Sue her Sunday Times which she spends the rest of the week reading in great detail, despite a daily newspaper being out of date the moment it is printed. Still everyone to their own!
On return I charged up the hedge trimmer ready to do a little short back and sides on some of the bushes. However, I noticed that some chickweed was growing in the conservatory gutter. I tried to access via the skylight as Sue has banned me from climbing along the roof. It used to be easy but nowadays I find it a bit more tricky. Having retrieved some of the weed via the skylight it was clear that there was plenty left which I couldn’t reach. So it was time to break the rules and onto the roof I went. Now for anyone reading this other than me, no I didn’t fall! But I had to balance rather precariously as I edged towards Ben’s garden. Then young Rupert appeared in next door’s garden and normal conversation started such as what is my favourite dinosaur today. I then had to close my eyes whilst he climbed in a box to hide. Then his brother came out to show me his Lego building. By this time I had to make an apology as I had to find more comfort at ground level.
Time then for short tidy up in the patio area. By the time I had trimmed the bushes, weeded the gaps in the patio, cleaned the BBQ, cut James’s path, I was knackered so I did get a rest in the sunshine. Nice BBQ in the evening didn’t come in till 8.30pm.
Spent a bit of time planning next years replacement for the dropped Heel to Toe venture. Getting some support already from Dawn Patrol Rotary Club. Plenty of time till next June, but I need to get the basic plan outlined and put to our club.
As for news on the virus, US and Brazil still accelerating in cases and even Trump has now decided to use a mask!
