Sue’s turn to visit Mum today, but not a successful trip. Mum is very confused now and thought she would have friends arriving to see her on her special day. This is despite her being told regularly that is just one visitor. She thought I would be joining Sue in the visit and was upset when I never went in, I just waved through the window. Sue took in about 30 birthday cards for her but Mum was showing very little interest. The staff had provided cakes and tried their best to help her enjoy her birthday but it wasn’t to be. Mum continues to say she “no longer wants to be here” and by that she means anywhere! It must be awful for her, as well as upsetting for us all in the family. Perhaps nature will take it’s course. One silver lining, Anne in Devon managed to get a call to Barty tonight and Mum had a chance to speak to Malc. Although it is difficult for any of us to hear Malc clearly as his voice is muffled, Mum was pleased that he spoke to her and apparently she was telling the staff that that was her son, the one with Parkinson’s Disease. I am pleased for Malc and Mum that they had some communication.
The temperature has dropped by over 10 degrees from yesterday , the heatwave has gone and today was very windy and chilly, looks like we are back to a normal summer. Today I spent some time planning a trip to Spain in September, as the Govt are about to ease lockdown further to allow people to go on holidays. On the news tonight I heard that some bookings have immediately rocketed up by 50%. We have no wish to fly so plan to spend three days driving to the villa and staying for nearly a month. We also invited Mary ( co-villa owner) to travel with us. She is thrilled and we are all looking forward to it especially as I know Mum is being looked after at Barty House.
