I have missed a few days blogging, been rather busy clearing Mum’s flat. Viv and Steve joined Sue and I and we now have everything bagged or boxed up ready to be taken away. I am waiting to hear from a local clearance company for a date to clear but hopefully we can empty the flat soon and hand back the keys. End of an era. Mum seems to be settling as well as can be expected at Barty House. Viv will visit her today before Viv and Steve drive back home to Derbyshire.Sue is visiting on Saturday, Mum’s 95th birthday.
Yesterday the PM reduced the 2 metre limit down to 1 metre and allowed pubs, hotels and other similar premises to re-open. This will take effect from 4th July but as far as a lot of people are concerned that will mean it’s the end now, but of course it’s not. Whilst the UK cases and deaths are reducing, in other parts of the world such as US and South America the figures are still increasing rapidly. It is huge gamble on behalf of the Govt in the UK to balance the need to kickstart our economy against the potential risk of a second wave of the virus. We have a short heatwave over the next couple of days, so now doubt beaches and parks will be full of people, which won’t help. Time will tell.
Two days ago a terrorist stabbed three men to death and injured others in Forbury Gardens in Reading in broad daylight. Particularly poignant as we know those gardens very well and the offices I worked in several years ago are just across the road from there.
