Weather is picking up, a sunny and warm day. No meetings so I decided to go for a bike ride. Stopped off at the bike shop, posted a parcel for Sue,and dropped in to see Mum. She was in reasonably good spirits although the bruises were causing some pain. I left in the knowledge that the pill dosage is increased and hopefully she may be OK tonight.

I rode up Bluebell Hill on Cycle Path 17 to the viewing point. Lots of people out enjoying the views and sunshine. Everyone I could see obeying the 2m rule. I decided to explore a road for the first time ever but finished up following the pilgrims bike route towards Rochester. Path was meant for mountain bikes not a racing bike with thin tyres. Eventually I was back on a road and circled back to Bluebell Hill. Home via Aylesford and the Tow Path. Most enjoyable, got home for a late lunch then some time in the garden. 6.30pm came in doors to get ready for dinner. Then came the dreaded call from Mum. Pain and anxiety = confusion. She couldn’t find her pills. Off I went, this time Mum was really suffering from her bruised back and shoulder but although a bit of a headache, no dizziness, so maybe the double dose maybe helping. However, it was clear the back pain and the anxiety were the problem. As previous nights I calmed her down, gave her some warm milk and got her ready prepared for bed. She had had a full dose of tablets according to the carers book but the para and serc in her box had both gone. I gave her one more para then applied pain killer cream to the bruises. I left her much calmer and she was going to watch tv for awhile.

During the morning I had a call from Barty House Nursing Home. They are once again taking on new residents and also respite care. After seeing Mum in so much pain and confusion at night I will be contacting Barty to see if we can get a couple weeks. At least she will have night care and hopefully the back pain will reduce and go. I haven’t seen any news today so can’t comment on current global state of affairs with Covid -19. Better watch News at Ten.
