Yesterday I did a lone ride on my bike. Despite some recent heavy rain the weather was pretty good. I ventured out to Brenchley and then enjoyed some hilly country lanes back towards Goudhurst. In no particular hurry I stopped to take some photos along the way. The River Beult at Hunton looked lovely glistening in the sunshine and the views from Castle Hill were clear looking across to the North Downs. On the way home near Marden the shoots on the hop bines were starting to climb their poles. I stopped to reminisce of the days as a young child going picking with Mum and Dad and getting told off for playing in the bins with my siblings and friends. The now rare smell of hops still delights me. A round trip of just 30 miles, I saw very few people, little traffic and most people observing the safe distance rules. We are so lucky to be allowed our exercise time in this lockdown. I hope to continue either cycling, walking or running within the rules until this crisis is all over, which will not be for a while yet I fear.
Back home Sue had been contacted by the carers with concern over Mum leaving pills about in her flat. They are concerned that she has little personal control over her medicines especially when she has her headache/dizzy spells. So in the afternoon Sue and I hatched a plan to sort things out in a way not to upset Mum. When we arrived however, Mum was well and in as good a mood as I have seen her lately. We were able to explain what we are doing and Mum agreed that she has her memory problem. We have now limited access to the pills, especially the paracetamol and I have explained to the carers exactly what we have done. We will be monitoring closely!
