I now have a bit of a routine going. Visit Mum every other day. The carers seem to be settling in Ok and Mum is accepting them. Yesterday, Sue made a lovely dinner for Mum which I took to her. She accepted it gratefully and then dropped it all over the floor. I told her no problem and then cooked her a Wiltshire meal which she enjoyed. Took her for a short walk, she now understands the severity of the lockdown. I spoke to a couple of policemen who were pleased Mum was getting some exercise. There was nobody else about, I think more people are now obeying the rules. However today the number of deaths from the virus in UK is over 1000 and still rising. Spain is over 4.500 and Italy over 10,000.
Yesterday afternoon Sue and I took a walk to Ralph’s Farmshop at Chart Sutton. Lovely fresh veggies that they get in from Spitalfields in London. Our route back took us through a vast expanse of polytunnels probably for strawberries. There are rows of portakabins which house the workers, mainly Eastern European. Big question will they be able to travel here because of the virus restrictions or if not what will be the effect of Brexit? Time will tell. Total walk distance was 5.4 miles.
Today I stayed home and started spring cleaning, one bedroom now complete! Then an afternoon 3.35 mile run. Visit Mum tomorrow.
