Christmas and New Year over indulgences are out of the way and now it’s time to dust down the tandem and get out on the road.
2nd Jan 2020 Norman and I took the tandem for a local ride around Langley and Boughton Monchelsea. Only 14.13 miles ( 12.13 for Norman as I had to collect him and return him home!). It was an overcast and drizzly day but nearly 10 degrees so very mild for January. All credit to Norman who has spent the past couple of months working hard on a turbo- bike in his garage. Once we were on our way it was clear that Norman’s hard work was paying off, he is significantly stronger thus allowing me to ease back on my leg work!
We rode along main roads and country lanes and had plenty of short stops. Towards the end of the ride we practised walking up a hill. Road users were kind to us today, probably due to coming across a tandem which is quite unusual. So far so good, will add the trailer in due course!
Stats: 14.13 miles 1 hr 15 mins 11.3 mph average speed.
