Awareness
The Shelterbox will contain a selection of some of the items that are packed in the boxes when they are shipped to places around the world following disasters. As trained volunteers Clive and Norman will display the items and where practical, promote the work of the charity as they travel through the South of England.
As Shelter Box works in partnership with Rotary, the project will also provide an opportunity to publicise the work of both organisations.
Fun, Fellowship and Fitness
This project will be both mentally and physically challenging. However, it is expected that the team will enjoy the journey particularly as the route passes through some of the loveliest countryside and towns in the country. Joined by Rotarians at various stages and meeting friendly members of the public will enhance the fun and fellowship that is traditional amongst Rotarians and other charity volunteers.
Training is already well underway for the riders. Whilst Clive is a regular cyclist, Norman only ever casually rode a bike when he was very young. However, he is up for the challenge and over the past few weeks he has worked hard on a bicycle turbo machine in his garage and is all ready feeling and looking a lot fitter. Very soon they will both be out on the tandem, getting used to pulling a trailer and increasing their mileage in preparation for July.
Publicity

2. Social media including Facebook and Twitter will be highlighting the event throughout.
3. Leaflet production for general distribution and local Rotary clubs.
4. Local TV and press e.g KM, Meridian, SouthEast News
5. ShelterBox HQ will assist with publicity.
6. Main Sponsor’s support advertising notices on tandem/trailer and support vehicles.
