I have been regularly training now for several months but apart from a couple of days off when I had a cold at the beginning of January it has picked up steadily. I don’t have a strict programme but a format has emerged. Mondays tends to be gym day where I cycle a bit and then do up to 30 mins running on the treadmill. I am slowly increasing the incline to build up resistance. Then it’s 2k on the rowing machine which takes just over 8 mins and then another 15 mins on the bike. I then do my stretches as I know they will help reduce injury. I then go to the pool and normally do about 1500m. As I build up for the SE Region Swimming Championships next week I am doing a bit of breastroke, but I know that with my concentration on doing freestyle for the triathlon, my breastroke is suffering somewhat.
Tuesdays is a short half hour on sprints in the pool with my friend Len and today I also did a bit of turbo and a short run in the afternoon. Wed is Wobblers bike ride ( base miles) and now I am tending to go tho Sevenoaks for the swimming session which is hard and usually over 2K in the hour. Thursday is rest day!! looking after grandson James and Friday I might do a bit of turbo and running followed by another evening session at Sevenoaks. The weekend only involves a club bike run on some Saturdays and Sunday is a real rest day. Then it starts all over again. However, next week is taper week before the 2 day swimming competition, so I will modify and rest more.
