It looks like Biden has won the Presidency, although Trump starts his campaign on Monday to legally discredit the vote. At the moment it is a great relief that Trump will be out of the White House but it looks like Biden, who comes from an Irish background, will not be as willing to be a close ally of Johnson because he took the UK out of the EU. The promise of a great trade deal with USA has now gone. I just hope that all the promises of a Great British future that Johnson sold most of the English population will materialise. I am not convinced. On the positive side at least USA will start to address the Covid problem and climate change, well they might in January when the presidency starts!
Covid cases still on the increase here in Britain. I went for my bike ride exercise today with MikeD. I completed just 40 miles but there plenty of hills over in East Sussex. A lovely sunny day after a misty start. However, there were still plenty of vehicles on the roads, I doubt if they are all on “essential travel” as the rules state. Our ride did at least cheer Mike up. Just before arriving back at Brenchley he saw two young lady bike riders he thought were in distress. They weren’t but we had a nice chat. Unfortunately for me they said they thought Mike and I were twins!! Mike’s 86th birthday is next week! My only consolation when I forced the question of how old do you think we are, they said “in your 60’s” I am not convinced, I think they were just trying not to offend.
I have reassembled the Shelter Box trailer and over the next week or two I will tow it around locally collecting items of Xmas fayre for the elderly. I start tomorrow morning with my first collection.
A mainly good day on the soccer results. Unfortunately, poor Tonbridge lost 0-7 in the FA Cup 1st round. Well beaten by league team Bradford City, However, it was an achievement to reach this round, the last time Tonbridge did that it was 1972. My Grandad was still with us and we were solid Tonbridge fans. Two years later Grandad died and my allegiance moved to Maidstone, who won away today and now move to 2nd in the league. Gillingham were 2-nil down against non league Woking but came back to win 3-2. So some things in the world are going OK !
