Ray’s funeral was well organised , well managed and emotional. Dave and I both read our poems OK but at times we had to take deep breaths to keep going, it wasn’t easy but I was very honoured to be asked and several people paid compliments which were nice. We went back to Ray’s son Thomas’s house and and met some really nice people. Stayed until early evening.

On a lighter note our next door neighbour Ben, who is headmaster in Swanley, which is the first school in the UK ready to accommodate all pupils after lockdown, was on the Larraine Kelly news show onNational ITV this morning. Ben did very well and was complemented by presenters and indeed Larraine Kelly suggested Ben should be made Education Secretary! A great compliment for someone so young, Ben is barely 30 years old.

R-I-P dear Ray
A hard poem to read, very emotional.
