Our local Loose Post Office is temporary closed for some mysterious reason so Sue decided that we would walk to Coxheath to post some parcels she has for the grandkids. Once the parcels were despatched we decided to return home via the Greensand Way to Linton. We haven’t done this walk for many a long year and how lovely it was with great Wealden views from the Ridge. Clockhouse Farm orchards have expanded with fruit trees now in blossom and strawberries on their way in polytunnels. Not surprising therefore, that they are appealing for 1000 workers in the next few weeks. With Brexit and now Covid we are not seeing many of the usual Eastern European workers coming over here for the season. On FB, Clockhouse are pleading with local people to apply. However, word has it that it means a 5 am start so I would be surprised to see a great influx of locals despite many having no current job due to the virus lockdown.

I did my first voluntary job today for Stockett Lane Surgery. Collecting a urine sample from a local elderly resident and taking it to the surgery. That was exciting I might even be asked to do some more.

In the meantime I visited Mum this morning. Doing reasonably well, she asked if Sue and I could take her shopping for some new trousers as she is getting much smaller. I said we would if we could and she seemed surprised when I told her that all shops except for bikes and food are closed. She hasn’t yet grasped the enormity of the crisis.

I started to reassemble the bike trailer today, I may well give it a run soon. Can’t use the tandem due to social distancing but I might take the Shelter Box and pull it with my MTB. Syria now has the virus spreading through the refugee camps. Shelter Box are doing their best to provide them with better shelter and blankets etc. It’s bad enough here but I can’t start to imagine what it must be like for those poor families.

Could be a Morpho with the black wing tips, a common blue doesn’t have that.
