I started the SFACC 300k at 2.00 am with no sleep. That was my first mistake. I took plenty of salt and other minerals early on but no salt later. Had a great ride with friend Trevor through the night, watched the full moon glow over the channel and saw the sunrise over the River […]

Lovely ride with the CTC guys. 4 Groups rode a four leaf clover shaped route from Tonbridge. Every 25 miles back to base for food and drinks- excellent. Nice 12.2 mph pace, good practice for my big 200k Audax coming up in a couple of weeks.

On the hottest day of the year with temps up to 30 degrees, I rode from Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton to Brighton and back. Stuart and his mate Steve rode below their normal speed to wait for me. However, I found it very hard due to the undulating route. We had to go over […]

Had a good weekend staying with friend Terry near to the start just south of Norwich. The weather conditions for the ride were awful. Headwind 35mph rain, sleet, floods and ice.  Joined up with riders from Sudbury club who made it more entertaining. Glad to finish the 100k which should have been easy but wasn’t. […]

After a few months of injury that has also kept me out of swimming, I have decided to focus on long distance bike rides and leave out high intensity time trials and sportives. My hip injury has eased and I am now back in the pool swimming . I have entered the Norfolk Nips 100k […]

This weekend was the highlight of my year. Martin and I rode my 1934 tandem to meet up with other club members and Rotarians in Dordrecht. Here is a small report and some pictures. “This trip was very much a symbolic ride but great publicity not only for our charity, Alzheimers Society but also an […]

How was I to know they would all be so fast? In my second ever 25TT this time at at Chilham, I managed 90th out of 98 finishers! However, it was a 1. 14.13 about 3 mins faster than last year at Harrietsham. I do ache but as yet back seems OK.

My back has been sore since last week. A bit worrying so I have been to the osteopath today. More stretching needed. Did the club 10 at Lashenden tonight. A lovely evening, a bit of a headwind on the return. Pleased with my time 29.12 on what is perceived as a slow course. Will see […]
