Very disappointing result. No excuses, I was just not up to it. 1:14:08 barely within evens. Worst part is I was nearly the slowest rider. Only 2 slower than me. Not sure if I fancy the longer TTs next year, may focus on the swimming and do a few 10 TT to keep up fitness.

Steady tapered training now leading up to my big World Championship day on 15th Sept. Fit and healthy at the moment, hope it stays that way. Tomorrow is a 25mile TT at Brenzett. Penultimate rider out of 60 to start. The last rider KT is likely to win, will probably pass me before I’m settled […]

The bike ride for nutters!  200km from London to Dunwich on the Suffolk coast. It was invented by a handful of bike couriers a few years ago as a trip to the seaside, to get away from London. For full story google Dunwich Dynamo all the history is there. I did the ride with son […]

I was privileged today to ride the annual 100k event this year with Uncle Les and teammate Mike. Both are knocking on the door of becoming octogenarians. Only a few weeks after his nasty crash when Les broke his shoulder and some ribs he is back on the road and sporting a brand new titanium […]

A Triathlon consists of 3 disciplines, swimming, cycling and running. The Classic or Standard triathlon is the distance used for the Olympics, 1500 metre swim, 40 Km bike ride and 10km run. Having completed a sprint distance earlier this year which was shorter,  I was really looking forward to this test of endurance. The South […]

Last year I tried this ride and failed through heat exhaustion and lack of salt. No way would I fail again this year. A great ride with friend Trevor, we started at 2.00am and finished 8.00 pm. 18 hours but enjoyable. At 190 miles it was my longest single ride ever. Three day s later I did […]

Mt Ventoux, a near 2000m mountain sitting proudly in Provence, Southern France has long been an attraction  for cyclists to ride one of the hardest climbs in Europe. It is infamous for claiming the life of Tom Simpson in the Tour de France , probably one of the UK’s best ever cyclists in the 1960s. It rises relentlessly for […]
